Cassi is off to Cambodia again next week, funded by a Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplement (MSFSS) Award, to continue the formative research on the distribution of multiple micronutrient supplements (MMS) for pregnant women at government health centers across Cambodia. She will be working on a Trial of Improved Practices (TIPS) study that aims to assess the relevance, cultural acceptability and utility of three interventions in supporting prenatal supplementation adherence in Cambodia. A total of 56 pregnant women will be recruited across 4 provinces to trial each of the interventions and participate in a focus group discussion to share their feedback and be involved in the iterative design of the interventions. Findings from this study will be used to create materials and motivational strategies that can be incorporated into the antenatal care services provided to pregnant women in Cambodia.
Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplement Awards support high-calibre Canadian graduate students in building global linkages and international networks through the pursuit of exceptional research experiences at research institutions abroad. This $6,000 award will help offset the costs of undertaking research studies outside Canada.
Congratulations and safe travels, Cassi!
